Ode to the Escort

Oh how I've loved my little purple car. Oh how I loved the zippy little car that got atleast 30 mpg. The faithful purple beast was always reliable, but all good things must come to an end.

Truth of the matter is that the Escort was on it's last leg. We figured we needed to be rid of it before it got rid of us. Joey has been dying to test drive anything since we got married, but I absolutely detest car salesmen. I also hate spending large lump sums of money. So I told him to pick out a car and I would say yea or nay. Joey found a great deal on this 2005 4-runner. It's got 3rd row seats and power everything. I've never had power windows and locks before! And it's fabulous to have a working gas gauge! Max loves the smooth ride and would rather sleep in the car than his own bed. Joey thinks this will be a great family four-wheeling rig/camping transportation- HA!
So, as Joey cleaned my Escort, I put it up on Craigslist. Within 3 hours it was gone! Joey was sort of melancholy about selling it since we've had that car our whole marriage. I guess it's sort of the ending of an era, the Purple Era.

"your whole marriage..." you make it sound like you have been married forever.....not yet....

I bet my first car, Emma, and your Purple Beast will be together in heaven someday...

Purple is power, and now you won't be making quite as bold of a statement as you drive down the freeway. Oh well, I'm excited to take a ride in the hot new SUV!

A 3rd row huh, is this how you're telling everyone about your triplets?
Just kidding. Your car looks great. I would fight the urge to Jeep in it as long as possible...at least until you get your first parking lot ding.

I love reading your posts. They always make me laugh. Thanks Heather!! But I think we have you beat in the car category. We just last year got rid of our first car together. Yep, 13 years we drove that thing. It served us well. It was the first thing we bought together just a few weeks after getting married. Nope, still don't miss it!!
