Oh Gourd!

As you can probably tell we carved pumpkins last Monday. Joey thought it might be too early, but I thought nothing of it. Well, yesterday Joey's pumpkin sank in. Curse you global warming! It's still about 75 outside and now our Jack-o-lanterns look like old men! Max really had fun squishing the guts. That's what it's all about, right? At least our pumpkins will be too mushy to be picked up by hooligan kids and hurled into the street on Halloween night! THAT is what it's all about.

Max looking thoroughly thrilled about the whole experience

Joey taking out his aggression on the pumpkin. No need to thank us, Scheels, for the free advertising.

I like Joey with the knife! Watch out! That sucks that your pumpkins didn't last longer! They looked so good!

yea, I think you guys may have carved a little early. I can't believe you let max squish the guts, last year was Malia's first year to help, I didn't want to deal with the mess. Heather, you can always call me if you have a great stalker story, no need to wait till church!!!

you have enough "that's what it is all about" to do the hokey pokey.

Just a few helpful hints on preserving the early carved pumpkin. 1. You can/should seal it with petrolium jelly to help keep the moisture in and or 2. Soak the face of the pumpkin in cold water to help restore that youthful glow. Bet you wish you would have known that yesterday. (How's this for a blog stalker story!)

Early pumpkin carving must be in the Blattman blood. We bought ours on Monday as well and Dan just assumed we were carving them that night. So, we did and they are actually holding up quite nicely. They actually get better with age. More scary and smelly!

Oh, one more tidbit of info.. Dan says Synnova's toots smell like rotting pumpkins.

Smart thinking on the squishy,
(and maybe)smelly pumpkins(less trick or treaters = more candy for you). It is never happy when you find what you think is your creation spattered in the road.
Joey, I think you need a bigger knife;)
